Interment Rights

When purchasing a lot, a person becomes the owner of the lots interment rights. The interment right for the burial lot gives the owner the right to say who can be buried in the lot. Interment rights also include the right to set a monument marker. If there is more than one right owner, then all parties must give their consent before any interment takes place or a marker set. The granting of interment rights to a lot does not actually mean you own the land itself. You do have the right to direct burials and markers in the assigned site, subject to the cemetery bylaws and government regulations. The land remains the property of the Escalon Cemetery District. Interment rights cannot be transferred to another owner without permission of the Escalon Cemetery District.
